Monarto

Murraylands’ very own premier tourist attraction, Monarto Zoo is a 1,000 hectare open-range sanctuary undertaking a major role nationally and internationally in breeding programs for rare and endangered species. The Zoo is located 45 minutes (70 kms) from South Australia's capital city, Adelaide and is the gateway to the picturesque Murraylands region. This unique adventure features, South Australia's first ever Southern White Rhinoceros, Australia's largest Giraffe herd and the largest revegetation project of it's kind in South Australia's history!

Murray Bridge Racing Club has been operating its Upgraded Thoroughbred Training Complex since 1996. Features of the Complex include:

  • Grass Tracks (Inside Grass and Course Proper) open 5 am - 9 am for fast work
  • Fast and Slow Sand Tracks open 5 am - 10 am
  • Bull Ring open 6 days
  • Horse Training Barrier Chute
  • Horse Scales
  • Two separate Jog Tracks
  • Regular Jump-outs & Trials
  • Jump Schooling (on request)
  • Special Gallops on the grass
  • Close Proximity of River for swimming horses
  • Monthly morning Barbecue (hosted by the Committee)

Old Tailem Town

First established in 1982, Old Tailem Town is now Australia's largest pioneer village, visited by tourists all over the world!

Fishing and Boating - Whether your chasing a carp or a cod, we're the ideal start for your fishing trip. Murray Bridge boasts some of the best boating facilities in South Australia. It is for this reason that the water skiing championships are held here twice a year.

Bird Watching - Rocky Gully Reserve is home to some 350 species of bird life and has viewing platforms and an ideal habitat to attract birds from around the world. We will put you in touch with locals that have years of experience and have recorded some of the sights.

Mountain Biking Trails – Jeremy, one of the owners of The Balcony On Sixth, is a keen mountain biker. Bring your own bike and gear and he is sure to show you a great trail, if asked.
